I hope this message finds you well. My name is BAKARE IDRIS and I find myself in a situation that I never imagined I would be in. I'm reaching out to you today with a heavy heart, but also with unwavering hope and determination.
In 2019, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with Chronic Myelocytic Leukemia (CML). At that time, I was referred to the Ile-Ife Teaching Hospital, where I began my battle against this relentless disease. Like so many others facing a similar diagnosis, I started taking medications prescribed by my doctors, hoping that they would provide the relief and healing I so desperately needed.
For a while, it seemed like the medications were working, and I held onto the hope that I could beat CML. However, my world was shattered when I learned that the illness had progressed to the blast phase, and the medications were no longer effective. Desperation and fear took hold of me as I struggled to find a solution.
In a desperate bid to save my life, I embarked on a journey to Turkey for specialized treatment, which was facilitated by donors. My hopes were high, but my doctors in Turkey were not satisfied with the progress I was making. They ran tests that revealed the blast phase had skyrocketed to a staggering 44%, a point where no medication could ever bring it under control.
I've fought this battle with every ounce of strength I have, undergoing a grueling round of chemotherapy, numerous bone marrow tests, and an array of expensive medications that have taken an immense toll on my finances. Each chemotherapy session cost a staggering $8,000, and the bone marrow tests and medications added up to $5,500 and $4,500, respectively.
Because I couldn’t raise enough money, I resorted to expensive supplements, costing N225,000 monthly, which offered some relief but couldn't provide the ultimate solution.
My world has been further shaken by the devastating news from my doctors – they have given me a mere three months to live. It's a stark and chilling reality that I am now confronted with.
But there's a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness. My sister is a compatible donor, and we have found a hospital with a remarkable 90%-95% success rate for the bone marrow transplant that could save my life. The catch is the cost – an astronomical Sixty-Five Million Naira (N65,000,000).
This is where I humbly seek your help, your generosity, and your compassion. I cannot do this alone; I need your support to raise the funds necessary for this life-saving Bone Marrow Transplant. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant difference in my battle against CML. Together, we can turn the tide and give me a chance at life, a chance to see a future beyond this dreadful disease.
Please consider donating to my cause and sharing my story with your friends, family, and colleagues. Every donation, every share, brings us one step closer to the funds we need to proceed with the transplant and save my life.
You can make a donation through [Provide donation link or details] or by reaching out to me personally. Your kindness and generosity will be forever etched in my heart, and I promise to fight with every ounce of strength I have left to make the most of this second chance at life.
Thank you for being a beacon of hope in my darkest hours, and for standing by me in this journey towards recovery. With your help, I believe we can overcome this challenge and create a brighter, healthier future together.
